Oil Booms

Oil booms are floating barriers used to control the movement of oil on water. Depending on how they are deployed, they can contain a spill within a defined area, protect designated locations from approaching oil, or guide a moving slick away from sensitive areas and toward a suitable recovery point. Their design combines a floating section above the waterline with a skirt extending below the surface, creating a barrier that follows the movement of the water while limiting the passage of floating oil. Different boom designs and configurations are available to suit varying operating environments and water conditions.
